About Lakes Area Yoga Association
The Lakes
Area Yoga Association was founded in 1995 as a non-profit organization
dedicated to bringing yoga to the Lakes area.
Our Board of Directors includes founders Martha Kuehn and Sharon Fodness,
along with yoga instructor Jane Peterson.
Our business manager, equipment manager, and twelve trained teachers
currently on our staff provide yoga to hundreds of students every year.
As a non-profit organization, we depend entirely on class fees to
operate.
While our
asana classes are based on the Iyengar method, they are also somewhat
eclectic and vary with each teacher's background.
Our teachers respect each individual's abilities and needs, and offer
appropriate variations for the asanas as appropriate.
LAYA
offers classes during Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer sessions,
with a variety of levels available at several locations, including
Brainerd (804 Oak St. in the former Washington School), Nisswa, and
Ideal Community Center.
Please let us know if you have any questions or if you are interested in
taking a yoga class.
